Pal's Now Offers Oxidation Cleaning
"My Vinyl Siding is Chalky"
If you run your hand across the vinyl siding of your home and you get a chalky residue, this is called Oxidation. Oxidation on vinyl siding is primarily caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun, which break down the PVC Molecular structure, resulting in a dull, chalky, white, or powdery residue. This natural aging process is accelerated by environmental factors, including high humidity, moisture, rain, and air pollutants. The key contributing factors is sunlight. Most softwashing is done to remove mold, mildew, dust and dirt. Although washing will clean your home it will not remove the oxidation. A special cleaner is used to treat oxidation. This cleaner gets sprayed on, dwells for 15-20 minutes, may be brushed or not and gets rinsed off. Oxidation is most noticeable on the side of the home that receives the most direct sunlight and is more visible on darker colored siding.
